Ok, so I have a not-so-secret fantasy….that I’ve been so lucky to fulfill lately. I’ve been up on the stage as an entertainer getting hundreds of people to try Zumba and have a blast doing it…..Fed employees in suits!! The ultimate fantasy is to be a pop star performing in a huge stadium but I’m past my prime now!!
Earlier this month I was at the Combined Federal Campaign’s Leadership Conference at the Hyatt Regency in downtown DC with my Zumba backup dancers, sisters Sarah and Rackel Jurdi. Our mission: to get the 700 campaign managers to consider Zumba Classes as an fun event they could use for fundraising. Oh man I had no idea how the crowd would react when I make all of them shake their booties.
For the first song, we had some volunteers come up on stage and try a Reggaeton piece with me. Imagine govn’t employees so daring as to hop on stage with me and get down in front of the huge audience. It was priceless. I learned my lesson to bring a camera person next time!! Then for the next piece, Merengue, I made the whole crowd stand up, and you know it, try the Zumba moves. They looooved it!!! I’ve never seen so many people in my life wear work clothes and dance like that — at a conference!!
So I ran out of business cards and have been getting lots of inquiries about hosting Zumba parties/fundraiser events at different govn’t offices. We’re making the government hotter, one agency at a time — wait until we try some hip hop =)
